16/02/2006 - Dail Eireann

The visit by F.H.S.to Dail Eireann was a big success. For many of us this was the first time to visit Lenster House. We were taken on a tour of the building, and then our local T.D. Pat Carey met us and gave us a talk on the workings of the legislature. Pat really looked after us and when we had paid a visit to the Dail chamber and the Senate, he brought us to the Dail bar and even bought the first round of drinks! The bar was full of T.D.s, ministers and journalists. We spotted the minister for justice Michael McDowell, Pat Rabbitte, Liz McManus, Brian Lenihan jr. and many others. So we can add the Dail to our list of places visited. These outings are very popular with members and we would welcome any suggestions for the future. With summer coming in, we may be able to travel a little further afield.
